Book Summary:
Alex Volkov has one mission: to look after his best friend’s little sister. But as they start to get close, they realize that what they have might be something more…

Book Review:
Hot take: this book was awful. I mean, the level of very descriptive intimate scenes really took me by surprise and I found it unnecessary and gross. Alex Volkov was cold and intimidating, and yeah, I get the whole “soft spot for her” thing is cute, but I couldn’t find myself liking him as a person. It didn’t have much of a plot, and it was very poorly written. The only reason I liked it was because of the concept of the friend group (basically each book revolves around a different girl in the group).

Quotes:
Since I couldn’t find any good quotes, here are some that made me laugh (at the book not with it).
“You’re about to find out what happens when you invite yourself into the lion’s den.”
“With her doe eyes and innocent features, she resembled a sacrificial virgin awaiting defilement.”
“I was his toy.”
“We’re all prostitutes in our own ways.”

Spoilers:
I HATE the “you’re mine” trope. It dehumanizes the women and just grosses me out. Also, can we talk about Alex calling Ava his “whore” and “slut”? That disgusted me. I think a thirteen year old could have written this book. Ava is way too bubbly and annoying in my opinion, and I think Ana Huang is very overrated and took the “sunshine x grumpy” trope too seriously. Also, Alex is 28 years old. How is he filthy rich with every business connection in the world? How did he, and a princess, and a social media influencer end up at the same school, let alone in the same group? It’s just strange, unoriginal and far fetched. It disappoints me that this is one of the most popular books on Tiktok (“booktok”).
