Book Review:
I LOVE The Hunger Games and all of the books are amazing. The movies are some of my favorites and I love the lore and the characters and the universe. Reading it for the first time was life changing for me and an awesome experience. That being said, rereading this book more recently, I wasn’t so entertained. I would say that this book is amazing reading it for the first time but is not the kind of book I would read over and over. However, I do think the plot is original, the tension is brilliant, and even though some of the characters are shallow the book is fun and well crafted. I definitely recommend the movie as well, and this is one of the only times I might say that the movie is just as good, if not better than the book.

Quotes:
“I wonder if she’ll enjoy watching me die.”
“Remember, we’re madly in love, so it’s alright to kiss me anytime you feel like it.”
“It’s him. I do not want to lose the boy with the bread.”

Spoilers:
Peeta is much more charming than I remembered. He is witty and funny, something they didn’t really portray in the movie. I also think that the movie casted the characters perfectly. I can’t imagine Katniss as anyone other than Jennifer Lawrence. I really like the character Clove and I felt bad for her towards the end. Cato too. This was all they grew up to know, I don’t think they were “evil”, and I think this book does a good job of touching on the idea of nature versus nurture and animalistic instincts. I think the fact that Katniss and Peeta both made it out alive was creative, and I didn’t expect it. Also, Rue’s death had me sobbing.
